ATC uses technology to help prepare students for postions available at area business and industry

Today’s workforce looks much different than what we have experienced in the past.  Technology has been integrated into most careers.  Not only do employees need the traditional knowledge and skills as in the past, but now employees must have a grasp on how to use technological advancements to get the job done more efficiently.

We are excited to offer legitimate and much needed training to high school students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center.  Our programs offer advantages such as dual college credit through JCTC, recognized Industry Certifications, hands-on training and opportunities for experience. 

Programs included at the Carroll County Area Technology Center include:

Allied Health – Radiology, pharmacy, X-ray technician, dental hygienist, physical therapy are just a few of the possible pathways that stem from a start in Allied Health.  Students complete CPR/First Aide Certification training.  Some courses are dual college credit courses.  Many internships are available in this program.

Automotive Technology – Students completing this program have opportunity to complete eight ASE Student Certifications!  Maintenance and Light Repair, Brakes, Suspension and steering, Electric/Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Transmissions and Transaxles, Automatic Transmissions and Engine Repair.  The program has articulated college credit agreements with multiple post-secondary training institutions. 

Business Management – Students learn about Business Law, Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Business Communication and Business Principles/Applications.

Construction Carpentry – This program offers an NCCER Construction Carpentry Level 1 Industry Certification.  Students also gain OSHA 30 certification.  Most courses in this program are dual college credit courses.  Program training includes floor and wall framing, construction prints, ceiling and roof framing, exterior and interior finishing and much more. 

Electrical Technician - This maintenance program offers an NCCER Electrical Technician Level 1 Industry Certification.  Students also gain OSHA 10 certification.  Most courses in this program are dual college credit courses.  Local industry has a great demand for technicians and cannot find enough local employees that meet the training requirements.  There is great opportunity for students in this program to enter an internship with local industry and JCTC immediately upon graduation.

Informatics – Perhaps one of the fastest growing and highest paid fields with the greatest demand is the information technology field.  Informatics trains students how to write programs that store, manage and make information available in a usable format.  A few possible career pathways include database designer, digital artist, information architect, web designer, and software engineer. 

Pre-Nursing – Another high demand career field.  This program offers the opportunity to complete the State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) certification.  The SRNA is the first step in the path to becoming a Registered Nurse.  There are immediate employment opportunities for people with the SRNA certification.  There are dual college credit opportunities in this program as well.

Welding – Students work toward KY DOT Certification 1 and 2 or AWS 3G welding certification.  Most courses are dual college credit courses.  There are great opportunities to continue this program into the post-secondary level as former students have completed Associate Degrees.   Students learn shielded metal arc welding, blueprint reading for welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding and cutting processes.
